Microsoft Outlook Replaces Hotmail

Microsoft Corp. is transferring its millions of hotmail users to Microsoft outlook after almost 14 years of free email service to the public.

Microsoft is trying to phase out the hotmail services, replacing it with outlook. Citing ComScore, The Wall Street Journal reported that hotmail had 324 Million unique visitors as of June.

Hotmail's greatest competition, gmail had a mere 278 Million users as of June according to the same Wall Street Journal article.

Details surrounding the switch to outlook are scarce, but what is known is that the new outlook services will allow people to exchange emails and communicate via Facebook, Twitter and other social media and will also be designed to work with tablet computers as well.
